Our Ingredients

Our Commitment To Being Transparent and Honest

We believe that being transparent and honest about our products, and the ingredients that go into them, is one of the things that sets us apart from the many other RV waste water treatment suppliers.

Our goal is to strike the perfect balance by formulating the most effective products possible that are also safe for people, pets, and the environment.

We also understand that everyone has their own position on what is acceptable in the products they use in their homes or RVs. Our position has always been to aim for the highest quality, safest ingredients possible.

When there is no way to build a truly effective product without using a less-safe ingredient, we want people to know that, so they can decide if it's worth the trade-off - having a stronger, more effective product that is also less safe or natural. That is why we go to great lengths to inform you in those instances.

To help you better understand the ingredients we use, we have listed them below.

Unique Camping + Marine Ingredients

Water is a solvent that is used to dissolve and blend other ingredients together.

Bacteria / Enzyme Blend

Each of our products utilizes safe and healthy bacteria and enzymes to biodegrade solid waste inside your tanks. We wish we could take the credit for this, but we've got to give props to good old Mother Nature for coming up with this idea. Nature has been using bacteria and enzymes to eliminate waste since the beginning of time. At Unique, we take existing bacterial strains found in nature, isolate them, and replicate them and then add them to our products. Our bacterial strains are very consistent and highly-concentrated so you can get them same experience every time you use our products. Our bacteria are also in spore-form, which means they have a very long shelf-life (many years) and their spore-form makes them much more resilient than other bacteria-based products to things like heat, cold, antibacterial soaps, antibiotics, and salt water.

It's important to know that bacteria produce enzymes as part of the natural digestion process inside your holding tanks (more on that here). In the majority of our products, our enzymes are shed by naturally-occurring bacteria who create exactly the right enzymes for the task at hand. The beauty of this process is that these enzymes are extremely safe and specific - so you have exactly the type of enzymes you need in that specific situation to break down the waste effectively and efficiently.

In a few of our products we use enhanced enzymes that are not created by bacteria. These enzymes are added by us to jumpstart the waste digestion process - so you don't have to wait hours for the bacteria to shed the enzymes naturally. They begin working right away.

Bacteria Preserver

Propylene Glycol. A natural additive that allows a longer shelf life for our products. That's good for you because you don't have to use our products too quickly before they expire. It is commonly found in food and candy. Propylene Glycol is recognized by the US Government as a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) Ingredient.

CAS Number: 57-55-6

Natural Fragrance

We use a very small amount of perfume in several of our products and we searched long and hard to find safe, environmentally friendly, fragrances with low allergenic properties. Our fragrances are only there to add a nice, light fragrance to the products - never to mask smells.

Natural Mineral Blend

We use a blend of natural minerals in several of our powders that consists primarily of different types of salt. The salt helps soften the water so the bacteria can penetrate better and is also a good carrier for our bacteria.

Zinc Compound

The main component of this compound is zinc sulfate monohydrate, and it is used in our Tank Odor Eliminator. We use a compound of zincs because they offer superior odor elimination in hot weather, however Tank Odor Eliminator does come with some safe-handling warnings because of these ingredients and it should never be dumped openly into lakes, rivers, or oceans as it contains ingredients that are detrimental to aquatic life.

We have clearly labeled, on the product, that caution should be taken when using Tank Odor Eliminator, but you really shouldn't be worried as our drop-in pod design will prevent you from inhaling it, getting it on your skin, or getting it into your eyes. Please note, this product isn't any more dangerous than cleaners you use in your home or RV everyday, like bleach, many surface cleaners, degreasers, toilet cleaners, etc. It just needs to be used with caution in the same manner you would use any of these other household cleaners.

Surfactant: A readily biodegradable compound that lowers surface tension so that our products can clean deeper by penetrating the surface of the waste. Once there, our bacteria and enzymes biodegrade the problem leaving you with no smells, stains, or waste... only smiles.

CAS Number: Withheld

pH Balancer: Sodium carbonate is added to some of our products to help balance the pH of the product. Sodium carbonate is recognized by the FDA as a Generally Recognized As Safe product - even for consumption in food.

CAS Number: 497-19-8

Environmentally Friendly Colorant: We use a fractional amount of dye in a handful of products - primarily our RV Toilet Cleaner + Holding Tank Enhancer. We've gone to great lengths to find a colorant that is both non-toxic and eco-friendly.
